Adventures in Eating.....

To Be Continued.........

Caleb is not taking to solids right now, so we are going to take a break until next month to see if he wants it again. Stay tuned. I'm sure it will be interesting when we start up again. :)

Watch out E-Trade Baby!

Adventures in Eating Solids: Part 1

First Attempt
Later that first attempt, and after a diaper explosion :)

Messy!
Second day, new seating arrangement; but still just as messy
Caleb likes to "feed" himself
Evey is waiting patiently for the leftovers
Caleb likes it when Daddy feeds him

Here are some pictures from the past week, as we have started to introduce rice cereal to Caleb. It's a day to day experience if he really wants it or not. I think the most he has eaten is about 1 tbsp worth mixed with milk.

Photosession

Hi All,

We got back the preliminary photos from our shoot last week.  Here is the link if you want to take a look.  I personally think they turned out great.  Of course, when the subject is this cute, how could they not. :)

Sleeping and eating

So, we bit the bullet and started the process of letting Caleb fall asleep on his own at night.  The first night went better than expected, only about thirty minutes of screaming/crying.  Good thing, since I'm not sure Sean could have handled more.  The second night he cried about twenty-five minutes on and off.  The third night, he started to cry when we sat down to read bc he knew what was coming.  But then he settled down and didn't cry at all when he laid down!  I'm hoping its not a fluke and he keeps it up.  He seems to be settling himself for naps alittle more as well.
We also gave him his first taste of rice cereal.  I'm not sure he is quite ready for it.  More ended up on him than anywhere else.  And to top it off he had the biggest poop ever and  then some more when I had to run and get more wipes.  It became a two person activity which required removal of his clothing.
I've attached a picture of Caleb trying to lick my glass to death.  :)

4 Months Old!

Caleb trying to wiggle to Evey. He really does like her.
Hanging out in his outfit from Mee-Maw and Grandpa Greg
Sitting in his bumbo playing with Gong-Gong
Chilling on the couch.

I'll keep saying it, I can't believe Caleb is four months old already! I only have one more precious month with him before I head back to work. Luckily, this week we also found our nanny. One of Sean's co-workers recommended we contact the Pastor's wife at the local Chinese church. She totally went out of her way to help us look for someone. She is Chinese, and only speaks Cantonese. This will be a learning curve for all of us, but I think it will end up being the best situation. We wanted to ensure that Caleb gets exposure to his Chinese heritage, and will speak better chinese than I do. :) What better way to learn, than from the beginning. Plus, my chinese will get better, and Sean will pick it up along the way as well. Oh, and did I mention that she will also be cooking and cleaning? Plus..Plus.. A big "Thank You" goes out to my parents for driving on short notice to Charlotte to help with the "conversation" with the nanny. Like I said, my chinese can definitely use some work. And thankfully they live close enough to assist, and will also be assisting the first week she starts to make sure everything gets translated correctly. Love you Mom and Dad!! We really appreciate everything you do!

So I took Caleb in for his four month check up on Thursday, and he is doing really well. Before we even started, the nurse commented that he looks more like he's six months old, than four months. He is a big boy, and everyone we see comments on that as well. Here are his four month stats: weight is 16 lbs 14 oz (86%), height is 25 1/2 in (73%) and head is 16 1/2 in (59%). At least his weight is holding strong, and isn't off the charts like we were expecting. However, he is in 6-9 month clothes already, and on the latter part of that size! I'm actually most excited about his height...no short kid for us! Thank you to the tall side of Sean's family for coming through! The doctor said everything looks good, and his hair is coming in more too. I don't think we could have had a better check up. He got more shots as well, and only cried for a second. He really is such a good natured baby. Again, he definitely has his daddies laid back personality.

So, we will probably start him on some solids in the next week or so. The doctor said we could start giving him some rice cereal once a day. Don't worry, it's only 3 tbsp worth, so no worries on him getting obese. And we are going to start working on letting him fall asleep on his own. Pray that we survive this (we- meaning Sean and I), as I'm sure Caleb will do really well as he has with everything else. But it's really hard to hear him cry too long. Wish us luck!

Watch out World!

Watch out world, Caleb will moving about sooner than later. This weekend he started to really use his hands and is now spinning around on his tummy mat. I missed getting pictures the first time, because I was on the phone with a potential nanny at the time. However, he did it again today. Here he is doing is in a few pictures. I took a video, but he is moving pretty slowly, so it's not the best way to show what he did.

Visit from Mee-Maw

Dinner at Fran's Filling Station

Caleb's Mee-Maw came for a visit this week during her spring break. She got lots of QT time with Caleb and gave both Sean and I a needed break. Sean and I even got to go out to a nice dinner, just the two of us. We are truly thankful and blessed to have had so much help from our families with Caleb, and he is still so young. We also had our first official photography session to get portraits of Caleb and our official family picture. Can't wait to see how they all turn out! We'll share the pictures once we get them back in a few weeks.
