4 Months Old!

I'll keep saying it, I can't believe Caleb is four months old already! I only have one more precious month with him before I head back to work. Luckily, this week we also found our nanny. One of Sean's co-workers recommended we contact the Pastor's wife at the local Chinese church. She totally went out of her way to help us look for someone. She is Chinese, and only speaks Cantonese. This will be a learning curve for all of us, but I think it will end up being the best situation. We wanted to ensure that Caleb gets exposure to his Chinese heritage, and will speak better chinese than I do. :) What better way to learn, than from the beginning. Plus, my chinese will get better, and Sean will pick it up along the way as well. Oh, and did I mention that she will also be cooking and cleaning? Plus..Plus.. A big "Thank You" goes out to my parents for driving on short notice to Charlotte to help with the "conversation" with the nanny. Like I said, my chinese can definitely use some work. And thankfully they live close enough to assist, and will also be assisting the first week she starts to make sure everything gets translated correctly. Love you Mom and Dad!! We really appreciate everything you do!

So I took Caleb in for his four month check up on Thursday, and he is doing really well. Before we even started, the nurse commented that he looks more like he's six months old, than four months. He is a big boy, and everyone we see comments on that as well. Here are his four month stats: weight is 16 lbs 14 oz (86%), height is 25 1/2 in (73%) and head is 16 1/2 in (59%). At least his weight is holding strong, and isn't off the charts like we were expecting. However, he is in 6-9 month clothes already, and on the latter part of that size! I'm actually most excited about his height...no short kid for us! Thank you to the tall side of Sean's family for coming through! The doctor said everything looks good, and his hair is coming in more too. I don't think we could have had a better check up. He got more shots as well, and only cried for a second. He really is such a good natured baby. Again, he definitely has his daddies laid back personality.

So, we will probably start him on some solids in the next week or so. The doctor said we could start giving him some rice cereal once a day. Don't worry, it's only 3 tbsp worth, so no worries on him getting obese. And we are going to start working on letting him fall asleep on his own. Pray that we survive this (we- meaning Sean and I), as I'm sure Caleb will do really well as he has with everything else. But it's really hard to hear him cry too long. Wish us luck!
