So, introducing Caleb to solids has been more of an ordeal that we would have ever thought. We first started off by what I call "dinner and a show", one person feeds and the other must perform to keep Caleb's attention and so he is willing to eat. Then we went to the doctor's office for his six month check up and she recommended we stop that so that we aren't having to do this when is a year old. :) So, basically Caleb's solid intake decreased.
So, we tried a few different flavors of baby food: sweet potatoes and peas at first ( I was really trying hard not to bring in the sweet fruits in the beginning). That didn't work, so we tried bananas. Well, he liked it for a few days. Now....when he sees a spoon coming at him he automatically starts fussing.
So I had to try to find another solution. Fresh bananas seemed to be something that he was willing to eat. Then frozen bananas, all of which lasted a short period of time. I also had to feed it to him very creatively. :)
This weekend we bought some diced pears, which I rinse off and then bite into small pieces. Apparently he likes to chew his food, and not just swallow it. He seems to want some texture. We might just have to start him on meats and cheeses sooner than later. :)
Now let me just add, it's not like he's eating a ton. We're happy if he eats 3-4 pieces.
Baby Steps.
