We headed to Durham for the weekend to visit Gong-Gong and Pau-Pau before they go to Texas for a few weeks. It also happened to be Pau-Pau's birthday last week, and Chinese New Year this weekend, so lots to celebrate. The weather was great, so after we had Dim Sum with the aunties and uncles, we headed to Duke Gardens to feed the ducks. We brought a whole loaf of bread to share, and then saw a sign that said bread and snacks were bad for the waterfowl and to buy some pellets from the store. Being the rule following people we are, I took Caleb with me to buy some. One mile later around the park we realized that the gift shops was right by where we parked....I had just toted him on my back the whole way. Caleb loved feeding the ducks/geese, however it took awhile for them to come to us bc there were people all around us feeding them bread and crackers. :) That night we took Caleb to the chinese church for their New Year's celebration. He had a great time running around the place. Yes, literally running around- as he sat down for maybe 15 mins. I also had gotten both Caleb and Sophie outfits for the occasion, but it didn't quite work out the way i planned it. Sophie's neck was too big, but the dress was too long everywhere else, and Caleb said his shirt was itchy after 5 mins. We finally got him to put it back on before we went to church. The next morning, Caleb and Sophie got "laisee" -red envelopes from Pau-Pau and Gong-Gong. I was able to catch some of the fun from the weekend. I will just add, it wasn't all fun and games. Sophie definietly knows her surroundings and wouldn't settle that night unless someone was either holding her or sleeping next to her, and for some reason Caleb decided to try and climb out of the pack-n-play and fell out and started crying while still half asleep......travelling with these 2 littles ones is still a bit difficult.
Sitting with Pau-Pau at church
Sophie's 1st red envelope....she seems to love it!
Eating roasted sweet potatoes that Pau-Pau gave us. She seemed to like it.
